Sustainability policy: what we actually do
UK SRS Finance is a reference to sustainability disclosure rules for UK financial firms.
This policy sets out our own footprint, what we do about it, how we report, and the claims we will not make.
Our footprint
A small footprint, mostly invisible
Everything we do happens online, so our direct footprint is small: the servers that host this site and the laptops we build it on.
We have no premises of our own to heat, light or fill.
What we do about it
Four habits, kept deliberately
We keep pages light: fewer heavy scripts and media files mean less energy per visit.
We meet online by default and travel only when meeting in person genuinely matters.
Where we have a choice of supplier, we prefer those that publish their own emissions data.
We review this policy once a year, and whenever anything material about how we work changes.
How we report
Using the standards we write about
We are not within the scope of Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting, and UK SRS is voluntary for any entity that is not caught by the FCA’s listing rules.
We still use the UK Sustainability Reporting Standards as our reference for how a company should think about climate-related risks and emissions, so the habits are in place before any obligation is.
Our guide to IFRS S1 and S2 explains the standards themselves.
The wider reference on UK SRS for every sector is uksrs.org.uk, published by the same company.
What we will not claim
No carbon neutral, no net zero
We do not describe ourselves as carbon neutral or net zero, and we will not make an environmental claim we cannot evidence.
The rules on green claims reach marketing as much as reporting — green claims in go-to-market explains why vague words like “eco-friendly” are the ones that get challenged.
Our founder owns this policy.
When we need specialist input we bring it in part-time for a defined piece of work — a fractional sustainability lead — rather than hiring full-time for a need that is part-time.
